While walking the halls the other day, I happened upon this wonderful kindergarten classroom, where students were engaged in the lesson, AND using technology. Though we all have these great, dual-capacity (dry-erase board and Interactive Whiteboard) Eno Boards in our classrooms, they are often used only for projections. However, in this particular classroom, students were permitted to use the Eno Stylus Pen to manipulate items on the IWB (Interactive WhiteBoard) and write explanations to problems.
Below is a brief Q+A session I had with Mrs. Cannizzaro today:
Me: How do you create opportunities for students to interact with technology in your lessons?
Mrs. C: I take pictures of workbook pages, and upload them into EasiTeach, which allows us to project the image onto the
Eno Board. From there, students are called up to demonstrate their knowledge and show what they know to
the whole class.
Me: During which subjects do you find the incorporation of EasiTeach to be most feasible?
Mrs. C: Our whole-class math blocks are most conducive to using EasiTeach. In those particular lessons, we review a page
from a workbook on the Eno Board together, allowing students to demonstrate their understanding of
mathematical concepts. Then, students are given seat work that relates to the work that we have done together on
the Eno Board.
Me: What benefits have you found from allowing students to use the Eno Stylus Pen during your lessons?
Mrs. C: Using the Eno Stylus Pen has kept the whole class engaged in our lessons. Students are excited for the
opportunity to use the Eno Stylus Pen. In teaching, engagement is key. When students are engaged, they are able
to learn more.
